The Film "Mustang: A Journey of Transformation" |
Blow Up Hollywood Live at The Anthology Film Archive in NYC. On Thursday, April 30th, at 7:30 p.m. Blow Up Hollywood is performing at The Anthology Film Archive in NYC. We will be improvising to the Film "Mustang: A Journey of Transformation," in celebration of it's screening at The Tribeca Film Festival that week. The Anthology is located on the corner of 2nd ave and 2nd st in NYC. "Mustang" is a beautiful documentary about an ancient Tibetan city in Nepal and the survival of Tibetan culture through the restoration of the beautiful artwork in their monasteries. The film is narrated by Richard Gere and features His Holiness, The Dali Lama. The origianl score was written and recorded by Steve Messina and Rich Kern of Blow Up Hollywood. For tickets to the see the film at one of the four screenings at The Tribeca Film Festival go to www.tribecafilm.com/festival/tickets Here are the dates the film will be screened - Monday, April 27th at 6:45 p.m. - Thursday, April 30th, at 1:15 p.m. - Friday, May 1st at 8:45 p.m. - these three screenings are at AMC Village VII theater , located at 66 3rd ave ( at 11th street) The last screening is on Sunday, May 3rd, at 3:30 p.m. at Tribeca Cinemas -located at 54 Varick st. Benefit to Fight Cancer |
BOSTON, MA – A cache of Boston’s award winning artists will host a night of Art, Music, Wine and Food at their art studios on May 18, 2006 to Benefit Dana Farber CAncer Research Institute. . Giovanni Decunto and Boston University Alumni, John Provenzano will open their art studios for one evening only to display their work and raise donations for cancer research. New York City Rock Orchestra, Blow Up Hollywood will donate their live performance in the studio throughout the evening and a variety of wines will be available for wine tasting donated by The Wine Gallery in Brookline. Gourmet hors d'oeuvres to compliment the wines will be donated by Italian eatery Artu Restaurant in the North End. Joining forces with all the artists is local two-time Boston Marathon runner Bill Lee of Reading, MA. Mr. Lee will run in the 2006 Boston Marathon and net proceeds of the evening’s events will be donated to Dana Farber under his Marathon number. “It is a chance to bring together artistic entrepreneurs for a worthy cause and a wonderful evening for adults to enjoy a unique experience”, says Lee. Bill and his wife Soni run Intertwine Media, a graphic design and multi media company based in Reading. Each DFMC runner commits to both training and fundraising to participate. “Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge runners choose to take on the challenges of a marathon and fundraising to support those facing an even more difficult road,” says DFMC Director Jan Ross. “These runners are athletic, passionate, and strive to make a difference in the lives of cancer patients.” A donation of $25. allows participants to wander through the Artist’s studios where they work and paint, enjoying finished art pieces that are available for sale as well as creations in progress. The mesmerizing sounds of rock orchestra, Blow Up Hollywood will serve as a soundtrack to the evening while attendees enjoys fine wines and foods throughout the evening in a relaxing and informal environment. blow up hollywood will perform live at the Anthology Film Archives Courthouse Theatre in New York on August 22nd, 2005. The band will be previewing some new songs as well as premiering their brand new video animation on the big screen for the song "WMD" from the forthcoming album "The Diaries of Private Henry Hill". The video animation was directed by Joel Tippie and based on his cartoons. Doors at 7:30p and Zenen opens the show at 8pm. New CD - Stars End is being released May 31st |
Blow Up Hollywood is set to release Stars End on May 31st. It's an improvised 40 minute musical experiment that was recorded live from the WXPN radio studios in Philadelphia in November of 2004. With instruments in hand and complete creative freedom, anything that was in the studio quickly became an instrument of choice. Instrumentation on the disc includes electric guitar, acoustic guitar, keyboards, cello, harmonica, wine bottle, tibetan singing bowl, vocals, dinner bell, small gong, whistling. |
